INVESTING FOR HUMANITY
Plant-Based And Alternative Protein Venture Capital Investment Vehicle
For larger investors, Beyond Impact operates larger institutional funds to continue its trailblazing strategy since 2017 of investing in companies that accelerate our transition towards a kinder, cleaner, healthier world. It participates in larger seed raises from start-ups with disruptive technology as well as providing funding to later stage companies to fuel their growth. It will also prioritise investment in diverse founder and management teams and may undertake follow-on investment in existing portfolio companies.
Beyond Impact Ventures invests in growth stage Alternative Protein Food and Materials companies – including plant-based foods, cultivated meats, fermentation-enabled products and other alternatives to meat, seafood, dairy and eggs.
Beyond Impact has created multiple funds specialising in early stage investments in the future of food and materials.
Beyond Impact has invested in the seed rounds of pioneering cell-based meat and fish companies Mosa Meat and Blue Nalu, synthetic biology leaders Geltor and Clara Foods, and plant-based brands Meatless Farm and Mighty Pea, now available in all major UK supermarkets.
The fund management team is led by Claire Smith, former partner at pre-eminent alternative investment consulting firm Albourne Partners. She is also known for launching the world’s first cruelty-free and environmentally conscious Exchange Traded Fund (ETF). The team has already worked together on a number of the current portfolio investments, and boasts skills in alternative investments, including VC and impact investing, company mentoring, and operational experience at senior levels at plant-based food and alternative protein companies, as well as being geographically spread to permit global coverage.
Beyond Impact Ventures invests globally with a focus on U.S., Canada, Europe, Israel, and developed Asia. Through the team’s network and priority access to the Beyond Animal deal database and funding platform, Beyond Impact has unparalleled visibility to cross-border, proprietary deal flow.
In addition to promoting a healthy and sustainable food supply, its investments benefit wider society and the environment by:
- reducing animal suffering in agriculture
- reducing greenhouse gas emissions
- minimizing land and water use, so promoting biodiversity
- lowering antibiotic use
- reducing the risk of contagious and foodborne diseases
